EOL & Geriatrics make sense with the aging populous; backed by the advancement in technology to keep patients alive longer regardless of QOL.

I'm trying to do little research in this "alternative" medicine from a complementary/integrative standpoint, but the stigma from the medical community seems too large to overcome even if consumers spend $34 billion/yr. You would think that there would be some ideas on how to leverage a network of that magnitude.

End of life services is definitely getting bigger. We are getting big funding for geriatric services. Don't know yet what type of services we will be providing. Hint: Canadian hospital, are you US or Canada?
Any specific business development inititives that you have been involved in and turn out successful?

Julia, looks like we have similar roles. Chronic disease mgmt is a difficult area, though I think those with a fully integrated EMR could have some opportunity to "hard-wire" best practices into their physician protocols.

End-of-life services is getting bigger. I'm hearing that some hospitalists are forgoing their hospitalist careers and starting geriatic/end-of-life specific medical groups.

Have you seen other ideas in this arena?

I'd like to hear from others who are working on business development ideas in other hospitals. I'm doing business development in the hospital and looking for opportunities/ideas around chronic disease management and geriatric services. Our hospital is focussing many of its programs in this area, interested to hear what revenue opportunities or additional services can be developed in this area.

There are many many ideas for this group. Why so few members?
