thanks for sharing your story with us. If you haven't already checked it out, one resource I'd recommend is Quint Studer's book "hardwiring excellence." He did exactly that - take a hospital from 5% patient satisfaction to 95% within a year or two.

Hi Tony,
Actually, ARRA 2009 as it is known, provides two sources of funding for EMR development and use. It provides additional funding to AHRQ, HRSA, NIH, ONC et al of $2B in new grant money. It also provides CMS incentive payments to physicians and hospitals that with a fully functional EMR starting in 2011 each physician could realize up to $64K and each hospital over $1M and possibly substantially more. The regualtions have not been set yet as to how all this works, but there is speculation that the EMR must be currently CCHIT certified and there must be chronic disease management in place that can be captured, evaluated, and reportable. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more information.

ok, will e-mail you directly. Don't think we're working for two competing hospitals. Sounds like we are operating in different countries.

Hi Tony, glad you liked my link about Paul Levy.

The group of us learning to Twitter and Tweetbox and more are establishing some protocals in virtual frontier for Retreeting. You might want to read up on them @ http://retweetist.com/.

I am working thru Facebook to stay in touch with virtual buddies Howard Rheingold (Smart Mobs) and Jon Lebowsky and Gil Friend to follow them and learn these protocols in action.

Yesterday I figured out Guy Kawasaki's best practice. It is way kewl.

Just wanted to let you know that my old web site you have listed here (thank you by the way) is no longer operating. I started a new one called Healthcare Today. You might want to update your social network page. Thanks.

Hi Tony,

I've been reading your blog for at least a year (forgive me for not knowing the exact amount of time) and have thoroughly enjoyed your posts. I'm just an MHA student trying to learn about this health care behemoth. When I figured out that a career in health care is what I wanted I went searching for blogs to gain some knowledge and perspective. I came across Hospital Impact then and have been reading ever since. So thanks--for contributing to my education outside of the classroom.
